Updating the TireMaster Server with the Auto Deployment Agent

The Auto Deployment Agent is a tool that’s included in TireMaster. You can launch it from the TireMaster server only. The auto deployment agent detects whether a new version of TireMaster is available via the Internet.

Note: In instances, such as the following, the auto deployment agent cannot be used to update the server: 1) if you use a slow dial-up connection, 2) if your previous version of TireMaster was registered manually, or 3) if your previous installations required special configuration. In scenarios such as these, you can download the TireMaster 6.1.1 installer from the TireMaster Support site at http://support.tiremaster.com/downloads or request an update CD from TireMaster Support and update manually.

To auto update the TireMaster server

  1. Close all applications on the server.
  2. Turn off all workstations.
  3. From the Start menu, select Programs > QDS TireMaster > Update QDS TireMaster. The Auto Deployment Agent screen appears and displays a check mark if an update is available.
  4. Click Install Update. The deployment agent downloads the update. Then the Search Results screen appears.
Note: Downloading the update might last at least 20 minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
  5. Select the update location for TireMaster (usually c:\qdstm or d:\qdstm), and click Update.
  6. Make sure the View readme file check box is selected at the end of the update, and click Finish. The readme.rtf file appears.
Note: You need to print readme.rtf. It includes information about program changes and settings you need to complete to use version 6.1.1. To print readme.rtf, select Print from the File menu in Microsoft® Word or WordPad.
  7. Register TireMaster and complete new settings as described in the readme.rtf file.

Note: If you have already installed the 6.x Backup Patch (ManualBackup.exe), you need to reinstall it. If you are running external programs such as the PenSoft Payroll Interface or the Goodyear Tire-HQ Interface, you need to run ExternalApps.exe after the update. Run ExternalApps.exe on any computer on which an interface is installed. Both files are available on the TireMaster Support site at http://support.tiremaster.com/downloads.
